Windows 10 Anniversary Fiesta Update: A New Year, A New You (If You’re an Operating System Version)

Capture

Get pumped, my friends! The anniversary update for Windows 10 released last week and it’s taking the world by storm. Set sail for adventure! You asked for a Linux subsystem running under Windows? You GOT it! Automatic installation of the Connect app for streaming your desktop/phone session to any Miracast-enabled device? You got that, too! The hottest takes straight from Redmond, so get ‘em while they’re HOT!

All kidding aside, the Windows 10 update did bring some quality-of-life improvements that are noteworthy. The Edge Browser has been beefed up, supporting more functionality and, most notably, extension support. If you’ve been on the fence about switching to Edge, now is a good time to make the change.

The notification center on the lower-right side of the taskbar has also been enhanced. Usability is much more intuitive, with additional tiles to adjust settings. It’s an overall design improvement. Consider it to actually be worth using.

Cortana does more stuff too, if you care about that. I won’t go into detail here since we aren’t on the best of terms.

The Start Menu and login screen interfaces have been adjusted. I consider this a huge net positive, simply because I have not been told that I’ve entered a wrong password … yet. This is important because I am infallible and never type my passwords wrong.

That’s about it! There are a few other minor changes, but this covers the larger things you’ll come across. If anyone wants to request that I mirror the tone from the first paragraph across the whole article, please let me know and I will promptly ignore it. Toodles!
