How to Survive the Holidays

Tis the season, folks! For some, it’s the “most wonderful” time of the year… and for some, not so much. Here are few tips on how to make it to 2020.

Take a Breather
Feeling irritable? Blood boiling? Step outside or take a fake bathroom break. Start to take full, slow, deep breaths in and out. Try this for one minute. If you need more time (and some useful tips), click here. This will give you time to pause and think before you react.

Criss Angel – The Man in Front of the Hooks and also Below the Helicopter

I walked into a used bookstore the other day and managed to find a diamond in the rough. Squished between Joel Osteen’s self-help book and 20 old copies of various Song of Ice and Fire volumes, some absolute rube had somehow managed to part with MindFreak – Secret Revelations (or maybe, a guardian angel wanted to pass on a wonderous gift to the world). Windows 10 Has a History

One night last week, I bit the bullet and formatted my laptop. This means, I reset Windows. I removed all files and applications and started over. It’s almost like getting a new computer, except you don’t get a new toy. You get a fresh install of Windows.

Why on Earth would I put myself through this seemingly daunting chore, you ask? Well, I’ll spare you the dull details, but this thing only has 3yrs of wear’n’tear on it. I was overcome with rage trying to “fix” some software bug, and patience was all out. Ultimately it was easier, faster, and less frustrating to tell Windows to reset. So, here we go.

What’s Your Type?

I’ve never been one to put much stock in a test that attempts to assign a value to a human being, specifically, personality tests. Summing up a person using a 15-minute multiple-choice seems pretty inane. I just never saw much reason to take a test that tells me what I’m like. I am what I am; deal with it. Then a while ago, a friend got me to take one, despite my many objections and constant griping. I hated the way every question was phrased, and attempted to rationally breakdown what it wanted to know and what was the right answer … which apparently is the exact wrong way to take this test. After I finished, she helped me score and apply the results to a rubric to discern my type.
