Slowly Approaching Zero Waste, Part II
Well, hello, there! I’d like to keep you posted on my progress from my last Zero Waste post. I am slowly becoming a pro!
Well, hello, there! I’d like to keep you posted on my progress from my last Zero Waste post. I am slowly becoming a pro!
The main reason I’m reaching out today is because I’ve been reading through the latest test results over at www.AV-comparatives.org and want to make sure your ol’ Spark Box is running the best software (I can’t remember if you remember, but I call the computer the ol’ Spark Box sometimes). Here is the gist of what I’ve found:
This morning I walked outside, and it was still winter. Expected? Maybe. Disappointing, nonetheless. So, I did what I normally do: I cursed the heavens and went about my day. Going about my day, like a lot of people, includes using a mobile device that is powered by a lithium ion battery, has a touchscreen, and a lot of very sensitive electronics packed into them. If you’re like me, you’ll notice that using these devices in freezing temperatures doesn’t always allow them to work as normal. Whether it’s a cell phone, laptop, or fancy smart watch, certain precautions and preparations can be taken to make sure these devices continue to function.
Recently I installed a brand-new battery into my laptop. You know, instead of purchasing a brand-new laptop because of poor battery performance. Admittedly this decision felt a lot less fun than a sparkly new machine, but it made much more economic sense. On the broadscale, I don’t have a healthy habit of cutting coupons or searching for savings; but I learned a pretty good lesson this time around.
