It’s the HOLIDAYS!

“I planned out our whole day. First, we make snow angels for two hours, and then we’ll go ice skating, and then we’ll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookie Dough as fast as we can, and then to finish, we’ll snuggle.”

Does that quote sound familiar? Get ready, readers. It’s the holidays, and there is no place to hide. OMG! You have to spend extra time with your family! The horror! You’re spending money on gifts for other people. AHHH! Plus travel… might as well kill us now.

On second thought, I used to hate the holidays. I was the grinch. The holidays gave me anxiety and a major attitude problem. Everything seemed forced and fake. But not anymore. I’m all in now and couldn’t be more excited about all of it. Family, Gifts, Travel, Parties, etc. – bring it on!

I wonder what changed my attitude. Maybe it was watching Elf on TV a thousand times (because it’s on nonstop from now until Christmas). But to be honest, I think it’s my little nephew. He’s a year old, and for the next six or so years, he’s going to believe in Santa Claus, which is one of the coolest things ever. Then after that, I get to spoil him with gifts his parents won’t buy, which is also the coolest thing ever. This year I got him a Micro Kickboard. I’ve been told they are all the rage with kids these days.

I think it’s important to find the silver lining in the holidays. Yes, you’re going to see people you don’t want to see, and yes travel will suck, and yes you have to spend money. BUT it’s all going to be worth it when you see someone truly appreciate your generosity. And in my case, it’s going to be my nephew, Owen.

In case you’re wondering, here are my favorite Christmastime songs and movies:

Song: Wham! Last Christmas

Movie: Home Alone

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! !!
