Happy Noom Year!

New year’s resolution or not, I thought I’d introduce a mindfulness/weight loss app I started back in September. It’s called Noom.

Noom takes a different approach on weight management and focuses on the psychology and science behind why, how, and what we eat. It encourages you to eat what you want and crave all while checking the fruits and veg boxes. You have the option to log your food, exercise, water consumption, and weight. And if you walk with your phone or have a step-tracker like FitBit, you can track your steps as well.

Information is key, so here are a few examples of what the app teaches you:

  1. why eating grapes is better than eating raisins.
  2. your judgments on yourself are called thought distortions.
  3. why creating a bedtime routine is important for sleep.
  4. that stress plays a major role in disease and unhealthy habits.
  5. how to push past a plateau.

I hope this keeps you guessing a bit and helps if you’re on a journey to a healthier lifestyle!
