Books vs. Books vs. Books

I am honestly shook that no other Bird has blogged about books! Well, let me (the non-expert) be the first!

I am truly on the fence when it comes to books vs. e-books vs. audiobooks. I like them all for different reasons:

  1. There are books I use for reference for yoga and grad school/mental health counseling. I have those books in both formats. WTF, Kris? Well, the main reason is that I probably started with the physical book and liked it so much that I purchased the e-book for easy searching.
  2. I began using the public library about 5 years ago after not using it since undergrad. For me, it doesn’t make sense to purchase a book I will never read again and then sell/give it away or move with it. When I don’t want to be on my phone, I pick up a physical book and dive in.
  3. When I travel, I’ll rent an e-book. I’ve heard the hack that if you’re not done reading by the time it’s due back at the library, open it on a device you can disconnect from the internet and continue reading. When you’re done, connect back to the internet, and it will automatically return it to the library.
  4. When I’m tired of reading for school, I pick up an audiobook. I am still new to this. (P.S. I have a friend who says they “read,” but what they’re really doing is listening. Does that count as reading?)
  5. I’m not sure if this applies everywhere, but if you’re really into reading, you might know that you can apply for reciprocity at other county libraries. So if you want to get on the waiting list for several books, you won’t have to wait long.

Here are some resources I use and my last reads:
