Move Over, Jetsons

The FAA has issued a “Special Airworthiness Certificate” for a new model of electric car. And no, this isn’t the latest Tesla model. This certificate will be for the prototype of a flying car! The California-based company Alef Aeronautics will test its Model A road/air fully electric car.

The Model A will be capable of up to 200 miles of road travel on either a fully electric or hydrogen option. On top of this, it will also be capable of up to 100 miles of low-speed air travel and fit in a normal family garage. The Model A will have a panoramic rotating cabin that will allow it to transition between driving and flying in minimal space. The cabin will provide a “Cinematic” 180-degree view of the space around the driver when flying or driving. The car will be able to fly in any direction.

Cofounders Jim Dukhovny, Constantine Kisly, Pavel Markin, and Oleg Petrovwere were inspired in 2015. The same year Marty McFly went to the future in a flying DeLorean, Duhkonvy stated at a science fiction lector that the technology to create a flying car already existed. Still, he lacked the technical expertise to create one himself. After years of experimenting, they believe they have created the first flying car. Alef is taking preorders for the new vehicle. What’s a mere $300,000 to fly over traffic and shorten your commute?
