The iPhone 15

It’s coming, and it can’t come soon enough.

I’m rockin’ the iPhone 11, which I seemed to have stopped caring for approximately four months ago. That timing coincides with its first detrimental drop, the drop that created a hairline crack in my display. “No biggie, I can manage until September,” I told myself. I had been planning on a new mobile this year anyway, and the crack only accelerated that want.

Then another drop, a slightly wider crack. Now I feel that line in the glass as my thumb slides around the screen. Soon after, yet another drop, perfectly hitting the phone’s corner. A dent. Small shreds of glass. Another hairline crack. And then a final drop, the most recent, reeling towards a concrete floor. No new cracks, no shattered screen. Instead, a vertical line that is half and inch thick runs the full length of my iPhone, acting as bright as a flashlight. If the screen is on, that light is blinding. Miraculously, touch works, but you must know by memory the button or icon you are touching below that pixilated trauma, because it is only one color: bright light.

can I make it to September? Apple has not announced the release date of the iPhone15, but it’s rumored to be September 12. or Sept22. I can make it.

Why wait? Obviously I need a new phone, so why not now? Well, dear readers, I will tell you: I want the newest iPhone with the latest features. I’m not going to buy the iPhone 14 when the 15 is weeks away. That would be silly.

And also, rumors are exciting! Apple hasn’t officially confirmed these new features, but here’s what I’m expecting:

*USB-C charging instead of lightning. Bring on cable consolidation!
-sort of. my iPad – which is seeing a lot more use as of late – is on lightening. So in reality what this means is two chargers at my bedside instead of one.

*An upgrade to the physical design:
-titanium frame instead of stainless steel, which is purported to be stronger. I need this.
-a bezel that is thinner around the display (by a third?!), leaving room for more real estate on screen. Dreamy.

*a cool blue color? I have a cool green right now. I’d be into cool blue, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think it’s going to be “light blue,” which I DO NOT want. Cyan, it is.

Probably a million other features continue to improve year after year. A faster processor, a better camera, more storage. Maybe a leash, which is what I really need.
