Happy 10th Birthday, iPhone!

Capture

Last week, the iPhone turned 10. Just like with every iPhone release, we stood in ridiculously long lines for the very first one, waiting to get our grubby paws on a phone that wasn’t a Motorola Razr. Though I refused to stand in line, I did acquire the very first one (aptly named “iPhone”) through AT&T. I even switched my carrier — the crazy things we go through for technology.  She was born mid-April of 2008 – a day I’ll never forget.

I’ve had just about every other iPhone release since then, though never any S-series phones. Come stroll with me as I take a walk down memory lane:

iPhone:

Obviously, she was a baby. She had glitches. The resolution was horrible. But I felt cool, none-the-less, and got to use my PHONE as an iPod (!!!). I missed the press of the physical keyboard (though not T9 texting) and had to learn that not everyone’s smart phone was a touchscreen.

iPhone 4:

This was my favorite phone, in that the design of the body turned modern and sleek. This was the one where the antenna was messed up, so to make it better, they gave you a free, crappy phone case with purchase. It was also small enough to use one-handed, and to shove in my clutch when I wanted to hit the clubs (ew).

iPhone 5:

Still modern and sleek, but it grew longer. AND THE CHARGER ADAPTER CHANGED, which resulted in a faster charge but also disallowed me to borrow anyone else’s charger.

iPhone 7:

Not sure how, but I surpassed the 6 and went straight to 7 upon release. This one has no headphone jack, which I still struggle with when I want to listen to music (I graduated to Spotify, commercial-free)/talk on the phone with headphones and charge it at the same time.

I wonder what the iPhone will look like when it’s legal to vote and buy cigarettes…
