The Changing Faces of Apple

Apple is releasing its new iOS 18 in September 2024. You probably care, but maybe you don’t. If you’ve been keeping score, us Birds have been blogging about Apple since the dawn of 2016 (when our blog started). Once again, here are some noteworthy changes they’ll be making!

(An Even More) Customizable Screen

You can move icons anywhere and change the color of your icons to anything you want. You can also swap the camera/flashlight on your home screen with a different icon/use. Make her cute, ok?

The Most Controversial – Locking/Hiding Apps

You can request a passcode or Face ID to open apps and hide any app you want. What a sneaky option!

A Fancier iMessage

You reply to texts with any emoji or sticker (not just the pre-configured Like, Love, Thumbs Up/Down, or !!). Need to send out a birthday text in the future? Schedule it to go out on a certain day and time. There will be options to emphasize tone, add text effects, or format a word (like bold, italic, or strikethrough). We are in our designer era!

Siri is Smarter

Siri will use AI to do things like fetch a photo in your album via your search words or cross-reference info to give you a better answer. It won’t be long before Siri has emotions and wants to judge your search history.

Thanks, Apple, for keeping us on our toes (or I should say, fingers)!
