Any of our clients that have heard us spout tech jargon have mostly likely heard the term “BOAC (Birds on a Cable) agent” when referring to several of our services. You may have received a rundown of what it is during onboarding or a support call, but during my time as a Bird I’ve realized there are those out there that have no idea what it actually does. I’m going to give you a breakdown of what we are putting on your computers and servers, and why it is so powerful.
In simple terms, our BOAC agent is a program we install on your computer that allows us to remotely deploy an array of services onto your machine. They vary depending on your organization’s needs, so the agent on your machine may not do all of the things that I’m about to mention. However, one of the beauties is that once it is installed, we can activate any of these services with a few clicks of our mice and you won’t even notice. Let’s get into it!
Remote Monitoring
One of the primary functions of our agent is to remotely monitor the health of your machine. Not only can we see detailed information about the hardware and software on your machine, but we can also schedule checks that proactively notify us if something isn’t right. We can see if you are about to run out of storage, if your machine needs updates, if vital services are running, and a lot more. We can also see a history of any logged errors on your device without having to jump into your computer, so we can investigate issues without interrupting you.
Remote Access
When this module is enabled, we can remotely connect to your machine from pretty much anywhere as long as you have a solid internet connection. Run into a weird error that means absolutely nothing to you? Let us know and we hop on your machine in seconds and start troubleshooting wherever you are (or we wherever are). No need to go to a website and punch in a code like some other remote assistance services. About to head out to a meeting or go to lunch? No problem. After you allow the remote session to commence, we can work while you are away.
Anti-Virus
We have two primary anti-virus options that can be deployed automatically via our agent. Both are top rated and leaders in the anti-malware industry. We know when bad actors show up on your system in real time. We schedule scans and see the results in our dashboard. We can see when it showed up, and what type of malware it is. In some cases, we can completely revert any changes it made to your system. It’s pretty cool.
Document Backup
We have many backup solutions, and our agent can manage one of them. Document Backup allow us to schedule routine backups when it will least impact your work. We can back up everything or just one folder and retrieve any of it from the cloud in minutes.
The greatest part about all these features is that all the data and capabilities are accessible to us via a single dashboard. This allows us to work quickly and efficiently. We can parse through logs, collect hardware data, apply anti-virus and backup policies all without interrupting your work. Sometimes there is no replacement for having a Bird sitting at your desk pecking away at your keyboard, but with our agent installed on your machine we’re virtually there already. Literally.
