Suno

I have a soft spot for AI services that generate art. Do I think any of the art is good or has value? Absolutely no. It’s taking other’s work on the internet and creating an aggregation based on what it finds. What does have value is its ability to make me laugh and smile. Suno.ai is the latest one I found — a service that will generate a song either based on a style with a short prompt or (more importantly) based on style with lyrics you input yourself. Here, I’ve chosen to feed in a wikiHow article about how to boil water and have it generate a kid’s song. Of course, credit where credit is due, I wrote the chorus myself. As a bonus, I’ve also included the mumble rap version.

Here are the lyrics if you want to give it another listen and sing along!

[Verse]

Boiling water is a task so common that learning about it can help you anywhere

Cooking dinner?

Find out when to add a poached egg or whether salt really helps your dish

Hiking on a mountaintop? (yeehaw)

Discover why your food is taking so long to cook

and how to make that river water safe to drink.

Keep reading to learn these and many other tidbits

[Chorus]

boil boil BOIL BOIL

The water’s just for me

boil boil BOIL BOIL

The water’s also free (yipee)

Jokes aside, if you feed the program lyrics with any sort of rhythm, it will most likely generate an actual song, albeit one that’s effectively a worse version of whatever source(s) it’s pulling from. Have some fun with it if you’re feeling adventurous. I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it (didn’t spend any).
